Kiro Pro Plus 2026 credit active but CreateAssignment fails with UnknownError and no subscriptions appear

0

I received AWS Kiro Pro Plus 2026 credits through a startup program.

Account details:

  • AWS Account ID: 970218920817
  • Region: us-east-1
  • IAM Identity Center enabled and configured

Issue:

  • Kiro credit is active in Billing.
  • Applicable product shows "Kiro".
  • Credit amount: $960.
  • Users and groups are visible in Kiro.
  • Assigning either a user or a group fails.

CloudTrail event:

  • eventSource: q.amazonaws.com
  • eventName: CreateAssignment
  • errorCode: UnknownError
  • errorMessage: An unknown error occurred

Request ID: c7c94997-8f47-412c-85f7-380fa6c359b6

Additional information:

  • Kiro Users assignment fails.
  • Kiro Groups assignment fails.
  • Kiro Subscriptions tab shows "Subscriptions (0)" and no subscriptions are listed.
  • IAM Identity Center region is us-east-1.

Has anyone seen a case where Kiro credits are active but the Kiro/Amazon Q Developer subscription entitlement was not provisioned correctly? Is there a way to verify or refresh the subscription inventory for the account?

I need to clarify that "Kiro Pro Plus 2026" is not an AWS service or product that I'm familiar with. AWS does not have a service called "Kiro."

However, based on your description of the functionality (credits, user/group assignments, subscriptions, and integration with IAM Identity Center), it appears you may be referring to Amazon Q Developer Pro.

If you're experiencing issues with Amazon Q Developer Pro subscriptions where credits are active but assignments are failing, here are some things to verify:

Common Issues with Amazon Q Developer Pro Subscriptions:

  1. Subscription Activation Delay: If users were recently added or if the subscription was just activated, there can be a delay of up to 24 hours for subscriptions to become fully active and visible.

  2. Managed Application Access: Verify that the Amazon Q Developer Pro managed application in IAM Identity Center hasn't been deleted or that user access hasn't been inadvertently revoked. If access was removed, it would need to be restored.

  3. Recent Tier Changes: If there was a recent change in subscription tier or setup, users may need to sign out and sign back in to their IDE to refresh their subscription status.

  4. Subscription Status: Confirm that the subscription shows as active in the Amazon Q Developer console, not just that credits are visible in billing.

For the "UnknownError" you're encountering with CreateAssignment, I recommend reaching out to AWS Support through the AWS Support Center (https://console.aws.amazon.com/support/) with the specific error details and request ID you've provided. They can investigate the backend subscription provisioning and help resolve the assignment failures.

If this is indeed a different AWS service or a beta/preview program with a different name, AWS Support will be able to provide specific guidance for your situation.
