The gateway mediates between file operation requests (NFS or SMB) and S3 (Object) storage and may need to occupy larger space on your disk than the individual file sizes. This is especially true in the case of smaller files. So, while the object size in S3 and file size locally match, but you'll observe that it's not always going to be the same as the size occupied in cache. Let me know if this addresses your concern.
