Free tier with multiple organizations

1

We are registering a 2nd Company with a completely different profile of activities. Is it possible to register the new company using the same Hotmail email address and AWS account and still benefit from Free Tier for the new organization?

Hello.

If you have multiple AWS accounts in AWS Organizations, the free tier is shared, so you may not be able to benefit from the free tier.

Q3: What do I need to do to qualify for the AWS Free Tier?
The AWS Free Tier is available to all types of customers – students, entrepreneurs, small businesses, and Fortune 500 companies are all welcome to sign up. If you are linked to an Organization (under AWS Organizations), only one account within the organization can benefit from the Free Tier offers. To calculate the Organization’s use of AWS Services under any Offers, we will aggregate the usage across all accounts in the Organization. You will be charged standard rates for use of AWS Services if we determine that you are not eligible for the Free Tier or have exceeded the limits for a particular service.

For AWS Organizations, the AWS Free Tier eligibility for all member accounts begins on the day that the management account is created. For more information, see the AWS Organizations User Guide.

  • I'm talking about setting up a completely new, separate Organization on AWS (my original one is an adventure travel marketplace and the new one is a construction company). I'd just prefer to get all the notifications on the same email (and under the same Root) in AWS console.

  • Free tiers are shared within your organization, even if it's a new organization. In other words, since sharing of the free tier starts from the day the organization's management account is created, if an AWS account other than the management account belongs to the organization, some AWS accounts will not be able to use the free tier.

The email address for root of the account needs to be unique, so you cannot use the same email address to create a new organization management account.

But you can utilize for example + in the address, and have the email end up in the same email box. Assuming your provider supports this.

For example aws@company.com and aws+org2@company.com.

One of the architectural interest of a company construct of an Aws Organization management account is consolidation billing for it's member accounts. So one credit card is used to consolidate an AWS Organization management account and it's member accounts billing.

Consolidation billing: Now if you use the same credit card for the new AWS Account to experiment perhaps with AWS Control Tower, AWSControlTowerExecutiveRole will create an Organization. You can add existing accounts from the first Organization and new AWS accounts. You will not be using the OrganizationAccountAccessRole because AWS Control Tower landing zone will create mandatory multiple AWS Accounts Hope that helps to clarify
