Problem with partition after increasing volume size

0

Hi

I increased my volume size to 3TB from 2TB but i'm unable to get the partition up to that size.

I believe it is because I didn't realize the implications of GBT vs MBS partition schemes and size constraints

Any way i can do this without losing my data?

It is still optimizing the volume after resizing

thank you in advance

Assuming your using windows and have a volume on a partition configured as MBR

3 options.

  1. One option is to create a spanned volume.
  2. The other is to use a 3rd party tool to copy the volume to another type of partition
  3. Convert the MBR disk to GPT and then expand. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/disk-management/change-an-mbr-disk-into-a-gpt-disk

What ever you do ensure you have a working backup or image of the machine and volumes before proceeding.
