aws lightsail billing

0

Hi everyone, If I create two lightsail in japan which both cost $5/month . If my lightsail-A used 500GB traffic in outbound and 100GB traffic in inbound every month, lightsail-B used 2.5TB traffic in outbound and 100GB traffic in inbound everyone month . I want to know how much I need to pay ? Maybe just $10/month ?

Lightsail does not charge for inbound communications.
You must pay for any outbound charges that exceed the free quota for the specs you are using.
I think we need to pay 0.5 TB since it means that 2.5 TB of outbound communication is occurring.

For Asia Pacific (Tokyo), the rate is 0.14 USD per GB, so I guess 70 USD would be added for outbound communications.
However, since your account says that you have another Lightsail running, the transfer quota in your account should be 4TB, so I don't think there is actually a 70USD charge.

  • Hi, I have two questions. First,it seems that aws lightsail will charge lightsail-B for 0.6TB for outbound , the photo shows 2TB contains 100GB inbound traffic and 1.9TB outbound traffic . Second , can lightsail-A give the traffic who didn't run out to lightsail-B ,after that lightsail-B have 2TB+1.4TB traffic :)

  • As stated in the following document, the data transfer quota will be Lightsail's total, which in your case will be 4 TB. https://aws.amazon.com/lightsail/faq/?nc1=h_ls#Billing_and_account_management

Q: How does my data transfer allowance work?

Any type of data transfer you consume is covered by your Lightsail plan and counted towards your data transfer allowance. As long as your instance’s data transfer is below the plan allowance, you do not incur any data transfer charges. Your data transfer allowance will reset every month, and you can consume it whenever you need within the month. If you delete your instance before the month ends and create another one, data transfer allowance is shared between the two instances.

The data transfer quota for this free quota is the sum of inbound and outbound data.

Q: What does data transfer cost?

Your plan includes a free data transfer allowance. Both data transfer in and data transfer out of your instance count toward your data transfer allowance. For Lightsail content delivery network (CDN) distributions, only data transfer out of your distribution counts toward your allowance.

However, if this data transfer quota (4TB in this case) is exceeded, only outbound communications will be charged. In other words, in your case, I thought there would be no charge as long as you did not exceed the 4 TB data transfer quota.

  • do you mean 'I think we need to pay 0.5 TB since it means that 2.5 TB of outbound communication is occurring.' this iswrong?

And the lightsail-A can give the traffic who didn't run out to lightsail-B ?

  • do you mean 'I think we need to pay 0.5 TB since it means that 2.5 TB of outbound communication is occurring.' this iswrong?

No, in your case you are using two Lightsail units. In that case, the total data transfer quota should be 4 TB. So I don't think there will be any data transfer volume.

And the lightsail-A can give the traffic who didn't run out to lightsail-B ?

Lightsail's data transfer quota is the sum of the data transfer quotas if there are multiple units. This means that if you have two units running, you should be able to use up to 4 TB.

  • how about the two lightsail in different regions . If I create lightsail-A in jp and lightsail-B in sg which both cost $5/month . If my lightsail-A used 500GB traffic in outbound and 100GB traffic in inbound every month, lightsail-B used 2.5TB traffic in outbound and 100GB traffic in inbound everyone month .
