Console login: remember MFA device

0

When logging in to the AWS console, I am prompted for a multi factor authentication code every time.

Is it possible to have MFA credentials remembered on my device for a period of time before being prompted again?

If you are using AWS IAM Identity Center successor of AWS SSO then it's possible and it'd ask for MFA authentication, only if sign-in context changes.

Refer Enable MFA for more details.

With IAM, to best of my knowledge this feature is not available and you'll be prompted for MFA when you attempt to login.

Hope this helps.

  • Much better, thank you.

This is how it should work. Every log our forced you to use MFA again.

To speed it up you can use a password manager add-on for your browser that will generate and paste a new code.

  • I use numerous systems which do not prompt for MFA on every login, they can remember the device for a period of time to avoid excessive prompting.

Atached is my current setting. I am asked for MFA authentication every few hours, even if logged form same PC (Linux Mint) and IP address. Is the some other settings I should change?
