aws workspaces pools - persistent storage versus application settings persistance

0

From the AWS documentation I see that:

  • persistent storage for workspaces pools will synchronize data from c:\Users%username%\My Files\Home Folder
  • application settings persistence for workspaces pools will mount a VHD to C:\Users%username% and sync data in that folder (with the exception of contacts, desktop, documents, downloads, links, pictures, saved games, searches, and videos.

My question is this: If we opt to use both persistent storage for workspaces pools and application settings persistence for workspaces pools what would end up being synchronized to S3 (including the VHD)? Is one of these options actually a superset of the other?

When using both persistent storage and application settings persistence in AWS WorkSpaces:

  • Persistent Storage syncs files from c:\Users\%username%\My Files\Home Folder to S3.
  • Application Settings Persistence uses a VHD to sync application settings and some user profile data but does not cover all folders like documents and downloads.

They are not supersets of each other; each handles different types of data.
