AWS account closed May 9 — 2 domains scheduled for deletion June 8, support case unanswered for 10 days

-2

My AWS account was closed on May 9, 2026. As a direct result, two Route 53 domains I rely on — tgt101.com and tylertracy.com — are scheduled for deletion on June 8, 2026, per the notices I received from Route 53.

I opened a support case under Account / Other Account Issues on May 11 and followed up on May 13 stating I'm willing to pay any outstanding balance or provide whatever verification is needed to reinstate the account. The case has been "Unassigned" for 10 days with no AWS response. I opened a second case on May 20, also still Unassigned.

My immediate concern is the June 8 domain deletion deadline. Could someone from the account team please review my open case before the domains are deleted? If full account reinstatement isn't possible in that window, I'd also like to know whether the domain team can help me preserve or transfer out tgt101.com and tylertracy.com separately.

Contact info on the account is current — happy to respond by email or take a callback. I'm glad to DM my case IDs and account ID to any AWS staff member who picks this up.

I understand your urgent concern about your domains approaching deletion. When an AWS account is closed, domains registered through Route 53 go through a specific deletion process. Based on the timeline you've described, your situation aligns with this process: after account closure, domains are suspended within 5 days, and then deleted 30 days later if the registrar is Amazon Registrar.

The good news is that if you can reopen your account during the recovery period, your domains can be unsuspended or potentially restored even if they've been deleted. However, I cannot provide specific guidance on your support cases or account status.

For domain registration issues related to a closed account, you should contact AWS Support directly about domain registration concerns. Since you've already opened support cases, I'd recommend:

  1. Ensuring your cases are filed under the appropriate category for domain registration issues
  2. Clearly stating the urgency of the June 8 deadline in your case communications
  3. If you have a registrar other than Amazon Registrar (such as Gandi), the process may differ

Unfortunately, I cannot expedite your support cases or provide account-specific assistance through this channel. Your support cases are the proper avenue for resolution, and the support team will need to review your specific account circumstances, any outstanding balances, and verification requirements directly with you.

Time is critical given your June 8 deadline, so continue to emphasize the urgency through your existing support cases.

  • Thanks for the pointer — I'd read that KC article before posting, but a few specifics are still unclear from public docs:

    1. Post-deletion recovery window: the article says deleted domains can be restored if the account is reopened. Is there a documented window for how long a deleted domain stays recoverable by the original holder vs. being released to the registry?

    2. Transfer-out from a closed account: if reinstatement isn't possible by June 8, is there a documented path to transfer Amazon Registrar domains to another registrar without first reopening the account? The auth-code flow appears to require console access.

    3. Account-category SLA: what's the expected response time for cases under "Account, Other Account Issues" at General Question severity? Mine has been Unassigned for 10 days and I'd like to calibrate whether that's normal.

    4. Repeat-suspension hardening: for an account flagged multiple times for suspected third-party access, is there a documented hardening playbook beyond MFA + IAM key rotation? I'd rather fix the root cause than re-litigate each suspension.

Answers would be useful to anyone in this situation, not just my account.

  • 1.) No. 2.) No. 3.) There no SLAs on any support case. 4.) Account's that continue to get compromised, AWS will suspend and terminate.

Hi Tyler,

I understand you're concerned about getting a timely reply from our Support team about your two domains scheduled for deletion. To prevent further delays, refrain from creating multiple support cases about the same issue. While wait times vary depending on case volume, I've reached out internally to amplify your urgency.
