Hi,
I'm sorry to hear that the documentation is no clear on this issue. I will ping the service team to improve this.
But to retrieve the data for users that have been disabled with in 30 days you will need to re-enable the user. Then the old mailbox will be linked again and you can access the data.
If the user is deleted the data cannot be recovered.
