Amazon workspaces time zone automatically change concern.

1

Customer has given me the access to one of Amazon workspaces client and it's time zone is automatically get changing to default, but my requirement is auto set to different time zone. Even after manual time zone change from 'adjust date/time' option, and when I log off and even when I disconnect and connect again to Amazon workspaces client, time zone changes back to previous. Considering any administrative changes/things that I cannot do, kindly suggest any steps that I can do on my client where I have access to set my required time zone as default (only to my id). Additional information: I have tried a batch script to set the time zone using tzutil /s "***" and tried different trigger setting like on logon, at startup, connection to user session etc. option this method is working on my local system or even on servers where I have RDP access. But this is not working on my Amazon workspaces client system. (If I run the script or run the job manually it works but its not trigged automatically.)

I believe you are facing this issue with PCoIP Workspaces. With PCoIP Workspaces this is a known issue and we are working with concerned team to fix this. However, there is a workaround that you can follow to get this to work. Below are the steps you need to follow.

  1. Apply GPO to disable time zone redirection as mentioned in public docs .
  2. Open regedit.msc and delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Teradici\PCoIPAgent\ConsoleTimeZone after taking backup.
  3. Open CMD as admin and run tzutil /s "<You can set time zone you want>"
  4. Reboot WorkSpaces and it would retain the time zone you set.

  • Dear Mayank,

    Thank you for your suggestion.

As I am using client, I do not have access to open or access regedit.msc

Can you please suggest any other options that can do without any admin access if any.

    Thank you in advance.
