Does Medialive support Arabic language in teletext subtitle input?

We have a usecase of converting Teletext Arabic subtitles to WebVTT, does Medialive support it?

Input: MpegTS Teletext in a PID with Arabic language

Output: HLS Arabic language in WebVTT

Thanks for your question.

Yes, conversion is supported for sources using teletext subtitles.

Conversion is not supported for burned-in (DVB bitmap) subtitles - these require Optical Character Recognition to covert the burned in titles back to text data. MediaLive does support OCR for six languages today, but not yet for Arabic.

You might wish to test the results for yourself, if you have a short VOD clip with suitable teletext data in it. You'll need to know the teletext page number.
