Is it possible to create a Greengrass Thing without Greengrass Core and later on to create a Greengrass Core and attach it to the already created Greengrass Thing?

Hallo,

I have this use case where my team wants to use the Greengrass Device Shadow so we can have a mobile app get data from our computer over the cloud. For this we need only Greengrass Thing which contains the Device Shadow section. Later on, we want to try to deploy software over that computer via Greengrass Core but we do not want to create that now at the moment.

My question, as in the title, can we first create the Thing and then later on create the Core and link them together as if they were created together? I know that when you create a Core it automatically also creates a Thing with a Device Shadow so logically it should be possible to do both actions separately and still link them later but I am not sure how that can be done?

Thank you in advance.

Hi. Yes it can be done. Automatic provisioning makes it seems like one step, but you can see it broken down into discrete steps in manual provisioning.
