Setting up only CodeBuild and CodePipeline may be simpler than using ECS. When using ECS, settings such as VPC are also required. On the other hand, if you only use CodeBuild and CodePipeline, you don't need to set up a VPC. I think there are multiple ways to do this, so it's best to choose the one that fits your environment and skill set.
