API Gateway access logs - IP address is empty

In enabling IP logging for API Gateway access logs, I noticed that most requests have an empty string for the IP address. What would be the cause of this? Is there any way to mitigate this?

If the source IP address is empty, then there was no immediate TCP connection making the request to API Gateway endpoint which usually happens when you implement test directly in API Gateway.

You would to view all activity from your vpc endpoints or DNS to get a more verbose view of all the requests.
