how to call uk emergency services using amazon connect

1

Hi

We operate a local council contact centre and occasionally need to transfer callers to the emergency services (999/111) - however this is not possible currently as our agents are unable to dial 999/111 and therefore cannot transfer..

Is there a workaround to this issue?

Many thanks in advance

Hello, Thank you for commenting on AWS re:Post.

Currently, Amazon Connect can make outbound/transfer call to 101 and 111 in the United Kingdom. These phone numbers are considered for non-emergency purposes. 999 and 112 are emergency numbers and are not supported to be transferred/dialed out directly from Amazon Connect instance at this moment.

As a workaround, please consider transferring such calls from Amazon Connect to a phone provisioned by PATS compliant telecommunication provider (for example: https://www.voipfone.co.uk/999_Emergency_Services.php). Through there, make an outbound/transfer call to emergency services.

Hope that helps. Thank you.
