I was able to install debian 11 on my v1.0 device with normal procedure, but the built-in camera refused to show up. other than that, everything works fine.

"normal procedure" as in the factory reset? https://s3.amazonaws.com/deeplens-public/factory-restore/DeepLens_System_Restore_Instruction.pdf I tried debian 11.9 and 12.5. Both were
blocked by current security policy
Also tried updating ubuntu to 18 via do-release-upgrade but then it wouldn't boot up cause ofsecurity policy
“Normal procedure” as following the guide on “installing Debian on intel x86 devices”. Just ignore aws’s guide and install Linux on deeplens just as it is a general purpose x86 device. One thing to mention is that my is the earliest edition got when it is released, so might lack some of the security features that later models have.
Thanks for replying. I have a v1.0 device too (Model AMDC-1), bought in june 2018. Maybe the earlier batches have a different firmware.
Did you install from USB or from ubuntu? https://www.debian.org/releases/stable/amd64/apds03.en.html
