To delete idle public IPv4 addresses in your Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) on Amazon Web Services (AWS), you can follow these steps:
-
Sign in to the AWS Management Console: Navigate to the AWS Management Console at https://aws.amazon.com/console/, and sign in using your AWS credentials.
-
Go to the VPC Dashboard: From the AWS Management Console, navigate to the VPC Dashboard. You can find it under the "Networking & Content Delivery" section or by searching for "VPC" in the search bar.
-
Select "Elastic IPs": In the VPC Dashboard, locate the "Elastic IPs" option in the left-hand menu, and click on it.
-
Identify Idle Public IPv4 Addresses: In the Elastic IPs dashboard, you'll see a list of Elastic IP addresses associated with your AWS account. Identify the public IPv4 addresses that are marked as "Idle".
-
Release Idle Elastic IP Addresses: To release an idle Elastic IP address, select the checkbox next to the IP address you want to release. Then, click on the "Actions" dropdown menu above the list of IP addresses, and choose "Release addresses".
-
Confirm Release: A confirmation dialog box will appear. Review the information to ensure you are releasing the correct IP address, and then click "Release".
Repeat as Needed: Repeat steps 5 and 6 for any other idle Elastic IP addresses you want to release.
By following these steps, you can release idle public IPv4 addresses associated with your VPC, thereby avoiding charges for idle resources. It's important to regularly review your AWS resources to ensure they are being used efficiently and to avoid unnecessary charges.
