I would go with this.
- Get temporary Connect number and set up all your logic.
- If you can fwd your Zendesk # to temporary Connect number
- Put in a port request with Connect, they will then take over your number and then you’ll be able to replace your temporary number.
If in Zendesk you can’t fwd your number then skip step 2 and go into step 3.

To reuse your Zendesk Talk phone numbers in AWS Connect with minimal downtime:

Port the numbers:
- Open a support case with AWS, providing phone number details and authorization documents.
- AWS support will give you an account ID and PIN for porting from your current carrier.
- After porting, assign numbers in AWS Connect.

Configure in AWS Connect:
- Set up numbers and test configuration before disconnecting Zendesk Talk.

Disconnect Zendesk Talk after successful testing.
